Radeon RX 6750 XT vs Radeon RX 6900 XT

Intro

The Radeon RX 6750 XT features a core clock speed of 2150 MHz and a GDDR6 memory speed of 2250 MHz. It also features a 192-bit memory bus, and makes use of a 7 nm design. It is made up of 2560 SPUs, 160 TAUs, and 64 Raster Operation Units.

Compare all that to the Radeon RX 6900 XT, which has core speeds of 1825 MHz on the GPU, and 2000 MHz on the 16384 MB of GDDR6 RAM. It features 5120 SPUs as well as 320 Texture Address Units and 128 ROPs.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 250 Watts
Radeon RX 6900 XT 300 Watts
Difference: 50 Watts (20%)

Memory Bandwidth

In theory, the Radeon RX 6900 XT should be just a bit faster than the Radeon RX 6750 XT overall. (explain)

Radeon RX 6900 XT 524288 MB/sec
Radeon RX 6750 XT 442368 MB/sec
Difference: 81920 (19%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6900 XT is quite a bit (approximately 70%) more effective at AF than the Radeon RX 6750 XT. (explain)

Radeon RX 6900 XT 584000 Mtexels/sec
Radeon RX 6750 XT 344000 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 240000 (70%)

Pixel Rate

If running with lots of anti-aliasing is important to you, then the Radeon RX 6900 XT is a better choice, by far. (explain)

Radeon RX 6900 XT 233600 Mpixels/sec
Radeon RX 6750 XT 137600 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 96000 (70%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (counted in MB per second) that can be transported past the external memory interface in one second. The number is worked out by multiplying the card's interface width by the speed of its memory. In the case of DDR RAM, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that can be applied in one second. This is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the video card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics chip could possibly record to the local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is calculated by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel output rate also depends on lots of other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the maximum fill rate.
