GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER vs Radeon RX 6750 XT

Intro

The GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER comes with a GPU core speed of 1650 MHz, and the 8192 MB of GDDR6 memory runs at 1937 MHz through a 256-bit bus. It also features 3072 SPUs, 192 Texture Address Units, and 64 Raster Operation Units.

Compare those specifications to the Radeon RX 6750 XT, which features clock speeds of 2150 MHz on the GPU, and 2250 MHz on the 12288 MB of GDDR6 RAM. It features 2560 SPUs as well as 160 TAUs and 64 Rasterization Operator Units.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Both cards have the same power consumption.

Memory Bandwidth

Performance-wise, the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER should in theory be a little bit better than the Radeon RX 6750 XT in general. (explain)

GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER 507904 MB/sec
Radeon RX 6750 XT 442368 MB/sec
Difference: 65536 (15%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6750 XT will be a little bit (approximately 9%) better at AF than the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 344000 Mtexels/sec
GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER 316800 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 27200 (9%)

Pixel Rate

If using high levels of AA is important to you, then the Radeon RX 6750 XT is superior to the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER, and very much so. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 137600 Mpixels/sec
GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER 105600 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 32000 (30%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the maximum amount of data (measured in MB per second) that can be transported across the external memory interface within a second. The number is worked out by multiplying the card's interface width by its memory speed. In the case of DDR RAM, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are processed in one second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the video card could possibly record to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is worked out by multiplying the number of ROPs by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel rate is also dependant on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the maximum fill rate.
