GeForce GTX 750 vs Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB

Intro

The GeForce GTX 750 makes use of a 28 nm design. nVidia has clocked the core speed at 1020 MHz. The GDDR5 RAM runs at a frequency of 1250 MHz on this card. It features 512 SPUs as well as 32 TAUs and 16 ROPs.

Compare all that to the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB, which has GPU core speed of 800 MHz, and 1024 MB of GDDR5 RAM set to run at 1000 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also is comprised of 480 Stream Processors, 24 Texture Address Units, and 8 ROPs.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

GeForce GTX 750 55 Watts
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB 63 Watts
Difference: 8 Watts (15%)

Memory Bandwidth

The GeForce GTX 750, in theory, should be quite a bit faster than the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB overall. (explain)

GeForce GTX 750 80000 MB/sec
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB 64000 MB/sec
Difference: 16000 (25%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce GTX 750 is much (more or less 70%) more effective at texture filtering than the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB. (explain)

GeForce GTX 750 32640 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB 19200 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 13440 (70%)

Pixel Rate

If using high levels of AA is important to you, then the GeForce GTX 750 is the winner, by a large margin. (explain)

GeForce GTX 750 16320 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB 6400 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 9920 (155%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of data (in units of MB per second) that can be transported across the external memory interface within a second. It is worked out by multiplying the interface width by its memory clock speed. If it uses DDR RAM, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This is calculated by multiplying the total texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels the graphics card can possibly record to the local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel output rate is also dependant on quite a few other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the maximum fill rate.
